Erskine Hewett / Philosopher, Artist and Ducati Paso owner

Posted by PicasaErskine Hewett
He is the author of "Work Ethic"which was posted on the pepptalk forum in 2006 and has attracted more than 4,000 views and 22 replies. That must be a record for a philosophy forum.
Mr Hewett worries about wasting time - in between writing for the Ducati Paso web site, making jewellery and thinking about the philosophy of art and ethics. He is a logical empiricist looking for rational expanations to all things.

Historic elm trees felled by WCC

This was a 80-90 year old grove of elms that a building just a few meters away was named after. The felling was done during the Christmas period and so locals are drawing their own conclusions. Lets look at the building next.

Historic elm trees felled in Wellington by City Council

There is a building named after the elm grove at the top of Able Smith Street but that didn't stop Wellington City Council from felling the elms !

Panguru in the Far North

On New Years day my friend Frank Ingram, who descends from Ngapuhi on his mother's side, took me to this pre-European inspired Pa near Panguru. It was one of the strangest experiences I've had. The small settlement near the Pa has no Europeans living there so it was very interesting. I can't help thinking that Maori have been cheated out of what was their first place of arrival especially after reading what George Bernard Shaw said in the Sunday Star Times ( January 7 2007). European development should be kept out of the Hokianga. There has been so much loss of heritage and it is the natural heritage that is so special. Stopping the development at Te Rae Kai Hau Point seems so much more important to me after this last trip.
Cheers
